For information on configuration, device operation and display icons please visit our LIBERO Gx real-time data logger get-started section.
What communication network is LIBERO Gx using?
LIBERO Gx is using 4G Mobile IoT (LTE-M/NB-IoT) for communication. Mobile IoT is for transmitting low amounts of data (machine-to-machine) on long ranges with low power consumption. The protocols is standardized by 3GPP and currently rolled out globally. LIBERO Gx as well as ECOLOG-PRO talk both "languages" (protocols) LTE-M and NB-IoT and are able to switch (e.g. in case of no connection)
What is LTE-M?
LTE-M is a low power wide area technology which supports IoT through lower device complexity and provides extended coverage, while allowing the reuse of the LTE installed base (=4G). LTE-M facilitates an energy-efficient handshake between antennas and is therefore optimized for mobile applications.
What is NB-IoT?
NB-IoT is a standards-based low power wide area technology developed to enable a wide range of new IoT devices and services. NB-IoT significantly improves the power consumption of user devices, system capacity and spectrum efficiency, especially in deep coverage. Ideal for utility metering. It uses widely available infrastructure, consume very little energy, keep device and deployment costs low, can reach deep within buildings and can support large numbers of units. NB-IoT is typically used for stationary applications.
Can I trigger a communication via elproCLOUD?
No, this is not possible. The communication protocol implemented for LIBERO Gx incorporates any communication triggered by the device. This future proof implementation differentiates the ELPRO device from competitive devices and allows the runtime of more than one year.
100% calibrated sensor – where can I download the certificate?
For all internal temperature sensors, ELPRO is able to provide a 3-point manufacturer calibration certificate covering the full measurement range.
All standard certificates can be downloaded via compliance.elpro.com
The LIBERO Gx battery life is stated as up to 14 months?
Technically, the battery life for LIBERO Gx depends on different parameters such as connection quality, network settings, re-connects due to connection loss, temperature range as well as measurement and communication interval.
Based on the customer requirements, ELPRO has simulated different use cases and runtimes:

2) effective transit time where device is logging/monitoring (excluding start / stop state)
3) event-driven immediate communication (e.g. temperature excursion)
The power management of LIBERO Gx has certain mechanisms (e.g. reduced communication interval if not in transit ) to ensure the runtime.
Assuming that only one continuous run is started for a LIBERO Gx, the following applies:
Environmental Condition | Communication Mode | Devices with Alkaline Batteries | Devices with Lithium Batteries |
Best Case | Visibility Mode | ≈ 5 months | ≈ 9 months |
Best Case | Longlife Mode | ≈ 7 months | ≈ 14 months |
Worst Case | Visibility Mode | ≈ 7 weeks | ≈ 14 weeks |
Worst Case | Longlife Mode | ≈ 14 weeks | ≈ 6 months |
Please note that the figures are approximate values. The actual battery run times depend heavily on the parameters mentioned above.
How accurate is the geo position?
LIBERO Gx utilizes 3GPP-defined cell-based location concepts to estimate the location of a mobile device based on its connection to the cell network. The accuracy of this cell-based location method varies and is generally not as precise as GPS or other advanced location technologies.
Your device's location accuracy with LIBERO Gx typically ranges from a few hundred meters to a few kilometers. It's important to understand that this accuracy is influenced by factors such as the density of nearby cell towers, signal strength, and the specific environment in which your device is located
The current global expansion of the LTE-M and NB-IoT network will further increase the location accuracy as well as future release of the network standard by 3GPP focus on enhancing the position accuracy (by means of triangulation).
How often is the geo position recorded?
The position is recorded whenever the LIBERO Gx connects to a new antenna. This is at least when LIBERO Gx transmits the data to the cloud. Depending on the network settings additional location points will be recorded when in transit.
If the device does not connect to a new antenna (for example because the device is in the same location) no updated geopositions are transmitted to the elproCLOUD, even if there is an IoT signal connection.
What is the difference between LIBERO GL/GE and LIBERO GF/GF ext.?
Both, LIBERO GL/GE and LIBERO GF/GF ext. are multi-use devices. LIBERO GL/GE (as all other devices of the LIBERO G family) contains two “AA” Alkaline batteries and are IATA compliant. This means, the batteries are exempt from DGR (“Dangerous Goods Regulations”) for airfreight and do not require declaration.
LIBERO GF/GF ext. contains two “AA” Lithium metal batteries (LiFe). Therefore, the LIBERO GF/ GF ext. have to be declared according to UN 3091 when shipped via airfreight.
LIBERO GF/GF ext. are mainly used in frozen shipments to ensure communication also below 0°C.
Is coverage available for my shipment?
Check the country list to check connectivity quality. In any case, we recommend to perform a test shipment on the planned route.
I have no coverage in my warehouse – what can I do?
Change the position of the device to increase the connection quality, e.g. by moving closer to a window.
Is it possible to set up an in-house network?
LIBERO Gx operates in the public cellular network (LTE-M and NB-IoT). This network allows high penetration and connection also within buildings. As LIBERO Gx operates in a licensed spectrum, ELPRO cannot provide indoor antennas e.g. by beacons.
As site owner and in order to answer questions about the site conditions, it is most efficient if the customer approaches the network provider itself.
Please check if the network is available in the respective country:
https://www.gsma.com/iot/deployment-map/#deployments
If network is available in your country, you can contact the national network provider in order:
- to check whether there are available antennas in the vicinity which can be upgraded to to LTE-M / NB-IoT
- to model on the basis of the given conditions (e.g. second basement floor, masonry) whether reception is realistic when additional antennas are connected
- to work out a proposal for an in-house supply system
Do additional fees apply for global roaming?
No, global roaming is included for the countries according to our country list.
What can I do if my LIBERO Gx does not react?
Press both buttons for 10 seconds to perform a (soft) reset. The device will not lose data and return to the previous state.
Is LIBERO Gx conform to the GDPR Guidelines?
Yes, LIBERO Gx is conform to GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). LIBERO G is used by the supplier solely to ensure product quality. In the database, there is no connection between the actual position of the device and a person (e.g. .driver) documented.
What happens to the data after transmission?
LIBERO Gx has a memory to buffer at least 31’000 measurement values (equals 322 days at a measurement interval of 15 minutes). If the memory is full, the first value will be overwritten.
Can I delete a LIBERO Gx?
Yes. It is possible to delete a LIBERO Gx. Please be aware that your data is lost, if you delete the sensor in your ELPRO Cloud account. Deleting is protected by asking you to enter your password.
Is there a list of airlines that have approved LIBERO Gx real-time devices?
Yes. You can find out, which airlines already approved our LIBERO Gx real-time loggers for transport. Please go to LIBERO G Airline approval list and fill the form to get access.
Can I deactivate the map in the software & reports for privacy reasons?
Yes. The map can be deactivated by ELPRO for the entire account, so that no position data will be displayed in the sensor analysis page and reports. Please file a ticket here if you are interested in this option.

The device need to be reset.
FCT.RESET - reset device and confirm by pressing Info button again. The reset device has to be paired again in cloud, after this, the device is working normally. Further information please see chapter 4 of the operation manual.
How to clean the logger?
We recommend to use a standard disinfectant.
